The Office of the Social Secretary is proud to present the fifth installment from the Goldenberg Concert Series featuring esteemed artists : Ms. Myramae MenesesMs. Camille Lopez Molina, Mr. Roby Malubay, Mr. Carlo Falcis and a returning Mr. John Patrick Reyes.

 

Kundiman is a traditional Filipino folk music genre centered on smooth and melodic love songs.

 

The concert took place on the 2nd of August 2024, at the historic Goldenberg Mansion. The show ran twice with a designated audience from various educational institutions at 2pm and 5pm.

 

Myramae Meneses is the first Filipino soprano to graduate from Guildhall School of Music and Drama.  She earned a master’s degree in Vocal Studies with Distinction and a 2-year scholarship.  She has represented the Philippines internationally, winning 2nd place in the 2012 Jovita Fuentes Vocal Competition and the top prize in the 2010 National Music Competition for Young Artists.  She has been nominated for multiple Aliw and Gawad Buhay Awards.  She recently won the 2023 Aliw Award for Best Lead Actress in the musical “Ibarra”, opposite Piolo Pascual.

 

Camille Lopez Molina is a renowned soprano, voice teacher and vocal coach. She studied at the University of the Philippines’ College of Music, earned her Professional Diploma in Opera Studies from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and continued her training at the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien.  She has won three Aliw Awards for Best Female Classical Performer and chairs the National Music Competitions for Young Artists Foundation, Inc. [ NAMCYA ] Voice Competitions.  She co-founded Viva Voce Voice Workshop, the Philippines' first summer voice camp, and directs Vice Voce Voice Lab, organizing workshops with notable artists.

 

Roby Malubay is a classically trained Bass-Baritone and accomplished voice coach. He won the 2nd prize at the 2013 Jovita Fuentes Vocal Competition and was a finalist at the 2018 Singapore Lyric Opera ASEAN Vocal Competition. Roby has performed widely, including "Beethoven's Choral Fantasy" with the Manila Symphony Orchestra and"Opera Rocks" by MusicArtes.  He is a key member of Viva Voce Voice Lab, who works on classical and Broadway-themed productions.  His performance accolades include key roles in "Ibarra", "Himala: Isang Musikal", "La Bohème", "Die Zauberflöte" and "Noli Me Tangere: Isang Opera" to name a few.

 

Carlo Falcis is a St. Scholastica's College graduate with a Music degree in Voice. He trained under Camille and Pablo Molina.  His operatic roles include Mozart's Così fan tutte, Felipe de Leon's Noli Me Tangere and Puccini's La Bohème to name a few. In musical theater, Carlo has starred in Vincent de Jesus' “Himala: Isang Musikal”, “Pamana” with PETA and “Bayan Bayanan: Letters from Home.”  As an educator, Carlo teaches voice at the Manila Symphony Orchestra Music Academy and ACTS Manila.  He has previously taught at PAREF Southridge School and served as the Glee Club moderator at Beacon International.  He is also a board member at Viva Voce Voice Lab.

 

John Patrick De Jesus Reyes earned his B.M. in Piano Performance from Santa Isabel College Manila, under the tutelage of Cecile Basilio-Roxas. He was a member of the SIC Keyboard Philharmonic and is an experienced accompanist. In 2012, he and his wife Venice founded The Hammerklavier Music Studio in Muntinlupa, offering piano and voice lessons to a diverse student base. His most recent performances include "Coming Home: An Isabelan Celebration of Thanksgiving”, "Vibes@391" for Santa Isabel College's 391st anniversary, and the “Goldenberg Concert Series: Indak ng Musika."

 

The 2pm show was flocked by musically inclined students from Geronimo Santiago Elementary School, Apolinario Mabini Elementary School, Ramon Avañcena High School and Claro M. Recto High School.

 

The 5pm show welcomed students from Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila and Victorino Mapa High School.

 

The students were left inspired and in awe by the successful Filipino musicians who have honed their craft both locally and in different parts of the world.  The students were serenaded with traditional Kundiman love songs, performed by pure musicians in the most majestic of settings.
