The Office of the Social Secretary is proud to present the third show from the Goldenberg Concert Series featuring Filipino-American Steinway pianist, Mr. Victor Asuncion and violin virtuoso, Mr. Diomedes Saraza Jr.
The concert took place on the 15th of May 2024, at the historic Goldenberg Mansion. The day’s show featured two time slots : 2pm and 5pm, both of which had a designated audience from various educational institutions.
Victor Asuncion is a recitalist and concerto soloist who made his orchestral debut with the Manila Chamber Orchestra at 18 years of age. He is the founder of the FilAm Music Foundation, an organization that promotes and supports Filipino classical musicians through scholarships and performance. As an artist, he has performed with musicians such as Lynn Harrell, Zuill Bailey and Giora Schmidt. Asuncion is set to lead the Memphis Chamber Music Society for the 2024 - 2025 season.
Diomedes Saraza Jr. is a multi-awarded violin virtuoso who has captivated audiences worldwide. At just 12 years of age, he won the National Music Competitions for Young Artists in the Philippines. The Juilliard graduate and Yale alum has performed with the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble, the Manila Symphony Orchestra, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra. As a former concertmaster and an esteemed educator, his students have gained admission to top conservatories globally. Saraza is a recipient of President Obama's Education Award for Academic Excellence and is one of the first TV commercial models for Promil's "gifted child" advertisement.
The 2pm show hosted students from International School Manila, Assumption College, Philippine Women University, Victorino Mapa High School and Philippine High School for the Arts; while the 5pm show saw the arrival of the students from St. Scholastica’s College and Bacood Elementary School
The concert offered a rare opportunity for musically inclined students to experience a performance by Filipino musicians who have honed their craft in different parts of the world and have performed on the world stage. The stunning performance showcase mastery and virtuosity on the piano and violin in an equally majestic setting.
