Bringing the country’s heritage to life through vision and experience, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) held a combined heritage tour and press event on April 30 in anticipation of National Heritage Month this May.

Anchored on this year’s theme, “Roots and Horizons: Our Shared Heritage, Our Collective Future,” the initiative brought members of the press and cultural workers to key historical sites: the Malacañang Heritage Mansions, the University of Santo Tomas, and the Philippine International Convention Center.

At the Glasshouse of Goldenberg Mansion, NCCA Chairman and Executive Director Dr. Eric B. Zerrudo, together with Commissioner Ivan Anthony S. Henares of the Subcommission on Cultural Heritage, led a press briefing to outline key initiatives and activities for the month. They were also joined by the heads of National Committees: Maria Teresa B. Rayos del Sol (National Committee on Art Galleries), Emma M. Rey (National Committee on Archives), Earl Jude Paul L. Cleope (National Committee on Historical Research), Benhur A. Asid (National Committee on Libraries and Information Services), and Audrey Dawn M. Tomada (National Committee on Museums).

“Our heritage is shared, and so too is our duty to protect, promote, and pass it on,” Chairman Zerrudo emphasized.

As we begin a month of celebration and reflection, the NCCA invites everyone to take part in honoring our past while shaping our collective future.
